Andrew Cunningham is the Founder and Managing Director of Darien Analytics Ltd, a UK-based consulting firm that focusses on risk, regulation and governance in both developed and emerging markets. He is a Visiting Professor at the London Institute of Banking and Finance and sits on the advisory committee of the European Chapter of the MENA Financial Crime Compliance Group. He has a long involvement with the Middle East and Islamic finance. From 2013 to 2021 he was the Editor of Arab Banker magazine.

    Andrew is based in London and is proficient in French and Arabic and he has a good working knowledge of Greek.

    Recent and current projects include advising a bank in Albania on how to bring its Governance practices into line with international standards; training bank directors and senior government officials in Tunisia on governance and risk management; and developing a new methodology for assessing the quality of governance at state-owned enterprises.
